Description

River Oaks Baptist School is seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to join our team as a Middle School Learning Specialist, beginning August 2024.

 

All Middle School faculty are supported by an experienced divisional team devoted to developing both students and faculty, including a Counselor, Director of Learning Support for MS, an Assistant Division Head, a Division Head and the Associate Heads of School for Academics and Student Support. As with all faculty openings, we seek candidates eager to support our mission of preparing students to meet life’s challenges and lead tomorrow’s world through a superior educational program undergirded by faith in Jesus Christ and Christian principles.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Support and supplement classroom teaching, and work collaboratively to implement math support that is research-based and meets the needs of students
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate instruction for individual students who need additional support in all academic areas
  • Teach an academic seminar class to MS students with focus on the areas of effective strategies for executive functioning skills, study skills, reading comprehension, grammar, writing, vocabulary, and math
  • Consult with teachers on educational or classroom interventions for students in all areas
  • Model and guide students in Christ-like values and character development
  • Employ current pedagogies Deliver innovative curriculum that integrates technology intentionally and appropriately Embrace lifelong learning and a growth mindset for adults and students alike
  • Participate collaboratively in grade-level, divisional, and all-school team meetings
  • Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, energy, initiative, and self-reflection
  • Motivate and engage students to be advocates for their learning Delight in teaching students in the middle school years

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • A vibrant Christian spiritual life and a desire to work in a Christian environment
  • A Master’s degree preferred in one of the following areas: curriculum and instruction, special education, educational diagnostician, or related field
  • A background/experience preferred in assessment, diagnosis, and development and implementation of instructional support strategies for individual students
  • Continuing education in areas of math support
  • At least three years’ experience in a classroom setting preferred
  • Applicable licensure/certification in academic language therapy preferred
  • A history of successful collaboration with parents, teachers, administrators, and outside professionals
  • Successful completion of background checks and verification
